There are rumors that Swedish operator Canal Digital will introduce "ID locking" next year. ID locking means that the serial number of the receiver box is fed into the smartcard, making it impossible to use the card in another receiver box.

The other Swedish satellite operator Viasat (NDS) has already done this.
